Wear Your Pride
Come celebrate the threads of Queer History through Charlotte Museum’s extensive T-shirt collection. Journey through the clothes proudly worn by our community in protest, celebration, recreation, and identity.
T-shirts help tell the stories of our community. Through organising, protesting injustice, and fighting for our rights, these pieces represent the loud and proud celebration of our history. From the protest movements of the 1970s and 80s, to contemporary lesbian bands and LGBTQ+ sporting events, see our humour, joy, and diversity reflected through this closet of queerness.
Reminisce over the rich history of HERO parade; Lesbian Feminism; Women’s Music Festivals; the Gay Games, and so much more!
Loved and treasured over the years, these t-shirts have been kindly donated to Charlotte Museum Te Whare Takatāpui-Wāhine o Aotearoa by members of our community.
