s.f.  Exhibition by Ciara Doelman Opening night August 5th 6:00PM - 8:00PM Agust 5th - August 29th 2026

 SF bounces around my brain regularly & has done so since I encountered Donna Harraway's writings on gender, technologies, and climate change - string figures, science fiction, speculative fabulation. I am curious about abstracting elements of my own life, making real mythologies, making visual my inner world. My work attempts to depict a fantastical landscape of waters, witches, planets, fungal networks, monstrous feminine figures, perhaps blending them into swirl forms, sapphic fungi, science feminine, spring fantasy. 

 Ciara Doelman I am an artist based on Te Motu-Ārai-Roa, a lot of my work is made using recycled materials (old curtains, mat board salvaged from my old job in picture framing, all of my painting frames are second hand from the dump shop). I also write the art column for the Gulf News.
