Today we mourn the passing of Dame Jools Topp — a taonga of Aotearoa, and a woman who shaped what it meant to live proudly and openly as a lesbian in this country.
From busking on Queen Street to our own collection, Jools and Lynda have always been part of our story. Jools was not just an entertainer — she was a pioneer who used music, comedy, and unwavering courage to make generations of lesbian and sapphic women feel seen.
She lived with breast cancer for 22 years, and never let it define her. We honour that strength.
Deepest aroha to Dame Lynda and all who loved her. The golden thread endures.
